• I'm on chapter 10(out of 11 chapters) so I've worked on most of the book.
  
  The book starts out great and has a very intuitive architecture for the projects. As progress further into the book, however, more things begin to not work either because the book uses an older version of a module(which I understand the author can't control after the book is released) or because the instructions in the book are just wrong or things are left out. As you get into the later chapters, there's a lot of debugging you need to do because of these mistakes. Thankfully the book has a git repo that you can clone and check the code with for every chapter.
  
  Overall, this is a great book on learning Node but the mistakes that appear later were time consuming and annoying to fix. Hopefully the author will be releasing a second edition where these things will be fixed.
• I am just loving this book. I have gone from zero to a full-stack developer in a matter of week with this book.
  
  The layered approach introducing all these new (to me) technologies is just amazing. Simon introduces new concepts layer by layer and in doing so, enabled me to understand each and empower me to use them and learn more.
  
  At the time of writing this review, the 2nd edition of this book is ready to go out. A lot of the technologies have evolved since the 1st edition was published which in a way was a help with my learning - I had to investigate many issues that were evident due to changing times and that forced me into deeper understanding of what my guide was showing me.
  
  I followed Simon's loc8r app about half way through the book and then decided to start over with my own app, using the book as my guide. I went right through to the end.
  
  Brilliant - the best technical book I have ever read.
• Maybe the best coding book I've ever read. The author resists the temptation that many authors fall into which is to get too clever in their examples, trying to make two or three points at a time and unwittingly obscuring the essence of what's being taught. Holmes is extremely systematic in his approach, focusing on one and only one point at a time, allowing it to sink in before moving on to the next. His coding style is also very well organized, with emphasis on best practices. In retrospect, the other books and tutorials I read on MEAN stack were less than helpful. It won't surprise you that I highly recommend it. Also check out Holmes's online Appendix D about javascript coding practices, particularly the section on callbacks.

  After finishing a node project, I've lowered my review from 4 to 3 stars. While this book is a well written introduction to Node and Express (though it inexplicably omits Swagger when the subject turns to APIs), it struggles when the subject changes to Mongo, Mongoose, and Angular. It's still a readable book, but don't expect to come away with an understanding of APIs, Mongo, Mongoose, or Angular (which in 2016, feels like dated framework). Ironically, the book's awkward approach to Angular did a good illuminating why you might want to look for a different client-side framework..

  This is a very good intro to MEAN development. The book has a good project that it's based around, it develops all the themes you'll need and most important, it's very readable, easy to scan, and the examples are straightforward, easy to read and implement immediately. I would recommend this book to anybody like myself who needs to get up to speed with MEAN quickly, without a prior, deep background in Javascript.
• Just an awesome first book to learn the MEAN stack. I'm not super proficient with javascript, but I was able to understand and digest all concepts and code presented. The code works. The book is methodical. The author does a great job with explaining and guiding the reader. There is rarely any ambiguity. A must read.
• Nice book. Describes the fundamentals of each component of the MEAN stack quite thoroughly. Would recommend to those looking for a foundation to build on.
• Seriously, what a great book!!!! Covers so much and you can build a little something in the process. What I like the most is somehow the author found a way to make a topic that can be dry while reading, actually easy to read. I found everything easy to follow and a even a bit of humor thrown in.
• Awesome book! I had a working knowledge of the stack pieces individually, and had even made a couple sites using the MEAN stack, but had questioned my design and run into problems with larger projects. This book was the perfect next step for tying it all together and learning proper design when using this stack. It's also very up to date for (mostly) proper use of (almost) component based angular -- which will be a compatible way of thinking about design when using Angular 2.

Nella scienza della traduzione è avvenuta una rivoluzione silenziosa.
Che è anche un modo gentile per dire che la maggior parte degli occupantisi di traduzione sono un po' sordi.
Ed ecco che non è più così gentile, ma pazienza.
La rivoluzione silenziosa consiste nel capire le parole di Jakobson (1959) non come riferimento dogmatico e ottuso a tre tipi diversi di traduzione, ma nel capire che si riferiscono tutti e tre alla traduzione volgarmente chiamata «interlinguistica» ossia, l'applicazione della semiotica alla traduzione non significa che il traduttore improvvisamente si occupa di cinema e pittura, ma che la traduzione in senso ristretto è nel contempo interlinguistica, intersemiotica, intralinguistica.
Questo fatto appare molto più evidente se si è studiato Vygotskij e il discorso interno in quarta ginnasio, e se si è studiata l'autocomunicazione di Lotman al secondo anno di università.
Tutte cose che qui da noi non solo non si fanno, ma non si contempla nemmeno la possibiliuà di fare.
Applicare la semiotica allo studio della traduzione restituisce alla traduzione qualcosa che a molti appare ovvio il contesto. Tradurre significa infischiarsene dei significati e andare a caccia di sensi, infischiarsene dei lemmi e concentrarsi sulle combinazioni di parole, abrogare la sintassi e stanare le collocazioni.
I linguisti hanno guidato il corteo degli occupantisi di traduzione in un vicolo cieco, ed è mezzo secolo che marciano lì con movimenti meccanici sempre più stanchi – le batterie si stanno scaricando – gli uni addosso agli altri continuando a sbattere contro la cancellata che delimita la fine del vicolo.
I semiotici hanno capito la centralità di «traduzione» ma non hanno organizzato nessun corteo.
Gli italiani, intanto, hanno usato la parola «semiotica» solo per parlare per antonomasia di discipline astruse, astratte, inutili e sulla lunghezza d'onda «la cultura non dà da mangiare», cose dell'altro mondo in stile campagna paradiso della Lavazza.

• I suffered from severe anxiety, panic attacks, and mild depression. I purchased so many books and programs over the years and had little or no luck with them. I can't remember when and why I purchased The Power of Now but I randomly decided to read it. Actually, I think I was desperate and was hoping I would find the answer to my problems by re-reading all the books I purchased. Well, I'm so glad I did because it has helped me tremendously. I listen to this Audible version during my daily commute. It's great. I can now separate myself from my anxious mind and feel calm and peaceful. 🙏

  I read the Power of Now but couldn’t relate as well to it. I’m not sure if it was the timing (perhaps my mind was more open) or what but reading Practicing the Power of Now was truly a spiritual experience. So many things I have struggled with became clear upon reading this book. Near chapter eight I felt as if a veil of peace had come over me. It was one of the most profound moments of my life to date … a true sense of detachment.
  
  The concepts were explained so clearly and the examples to practice with really empower the reader to start making changes immediately. This will be in regular rotation for me until I have practiced enough to not need the reference anymore. I am so overwhelmed by the ideas in this book that I am eager to share and discuss it with everyone I meet.

• Eckhart has a way of clearly stating, in westernized terms, what is the essence of Buddhist philosophy. Our mind is constantly propelling us into the past or future and prevents us from experiencing the present moment; the only moment there really is. Quoting Lao Tsu (the Tao) "If you are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you are at peace, you are living in the present." Peace is all you really have and how easily we give it away. Eckhart made it clear to why we do that.
• This book has changed my life. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to get in touch with his or her inner self and live a more peaceful life. Every time I read this book, and I have read it several times, I learn something else about myself. You can recommend this book to others, but they have to be ready for it. My sister tried to introduce me to Eckhart Tolle last year, but I wasn't ready for him so I didn't bother to purchase his books. I have learned that when it's time for something to change in your life, you will know it. Love this book and other Exkhart Tolle's books. I have practiced meditation for many years, meditating twice a day. Now I can meditate anytime and that's a wonderful feeling knowing that I don't have to wait for a specific time to be at peace. I walk through the park now and I actually hear the birds or the other sounds around me. That's a WOW for me. I accept others more and am aware of when I am judging them or other things around me. More and more I am in control of my thinking and that's powerful. All of this came about as a result of reading this book. Buy this book and you will understand what I am saying; that is, if you are ready for change in your life. Powerful book!
• There really is not much to say. If you are on a spiritual journey you will understand what I mean. Eckhart Tolle will comfort and guide you along the way. If you are at a point where you can be still and find peace in silence then I think you are ready to appreciate him. If not I think you will find this review and his books to make no sense. He is not going to cure you or give you some magical insight, he is going to comfort you and help you realize you had the answer all along. His writing gives me so much peace because I understand what he is saying after struggling for so long. That is part of the process. If you are in anguish keep going and keep searching. The teachings in this book are not a rehash entirely, but are very important clarifactory instructions on how to live the spiritual life. I absolutely love Eckhart Tolle's teachings, but his books sometimes left me with questions on how to live out his teachings; this is the book on how to do that.
• I absolutely love this book, it's changed my way of life in such a profound and amazing way. This particular copy I bought for my neighbor who struggles in her relationships with family. My personal copy i would never ever part with! Realizing that I am not the "thinker" but the observer changed my life and relationships forever! Oh, and I highly recommend that you read "A New Earth" to dive even deeper. Having the ability to recognize the ego will free you!
